DURING THE SEMESTER you will have several opportunities to confront the basic task of all historians: writing about the past. In addition to your weekly online exercises you will be expected to submit five pieces of written work, most of them jointly with your English 101 class:
- September 15, 2005 - Summary Essay due
- September 22, 2005 - Descriptive Essay due
- September 29, 2005 - Narrative Essay due
- November 17, 2005 - Research Paper due
- December 9, 2005 - Opinion Paper due
Before you begin to write, please consult the Writing Center's Writing Guide for History 100. As soon as I read your essays I will know if you have not consulted this resource and I can guarantee that your grade will suffer significantly if you skip it. Also, please contact me whenever you have questions or concerns about your writing assignments. I am happy to review outlines, first, second and even third drafts of papers before they are due.
